Art Nouveau Enamel Diamond and Ruby Female Silhouette Pendant in 14k
This tremendous period piece is the epitome of Art Nouveau. The pendant features a dangling gold circle containing the profile of a female's head and hair. The face of the woman is painted in enamel and is highly detailed. There is a small area of wear to the enamel on the chin of the woman. This blends into the background well. Her hair is also highly textured and features a headband containing four old mine cut diamonds, totaling about 0.05ctw. At her ear a rose cut ruby is embedded as an earring. The woman's hair curls within the circle frame and flows down below. The pendant is stamped 14k and the back has a rose gold tone. There is a cap that has been placed on the back from which the loop and bail are attached. , think it is possible that this was a pin at some point and then was converted to a pendant, however, don't know the full history of the piece. It measures 1" in length including the bail and just over 1/2" across. The pendant weighs 1.7g. This highly unusual an beautiful piece will make a treasure in any historical jewelry lover's collection!
