Victorian Rose & Yellow Gold R I Initials Enamel Engraved Leverback Earrings 14k
Regular price $250.00
These earrings are a mystery! They are Victorian, as evidenced by how they are made and the "reverse leverback" clasps where the hook closes in the front, not the back. They have a fat teardrop shape and are crafted in 14k rose gold with mill grain detail and scrolling curves at the top. Setin the middle is a domed, pierced 14k yellow gold design with the initials R I in blue enamel inlay in the center. The yellow gold is also engraved and has textured detail. The mystery is what the RI stands for! Could it be for Rhode Island? Or perhaps the initials of a society or group Victorian ladies would have been involved in? If you know, fill me in! Regardless, these are a gorgeous pair of period earrings and are beautiful no matter the meaning. They measure just over an inch in length including the leverback and just over 1/2" at the widest. They weigh 2.8g.
