Antique Edwardian Halley's Comet Star Bangle Bracelet in 14k Rose Gold
The first Halley's comet jewelry was created around 1835 when the comet came into orbit. About every 75-79 years the comet returns. This particular piece dates closer to the Edwardian period when the comet showed around 1910. Pieces like this with gemstone heads and tails were created as a remembrance. This particular bracelet features a pearl encrusted star with tails and a smaller star on each side,. The bracelet itself is a hinged oval bangle made of two knife edge pieces that are connected in the middle. The bracelet is hollow and weighs 12.30g. The outside of the bracelet is nearly perfect while the inside of the top does show a little bit of wear in terms of tiny dents, none pierce the gold. The bracelet measures 2 1/4" in internal diameter from left to right. The height is 2". It is just under 3/4" across at the widest on top. The safety chain allows the bangle to open widely and accommodate the hand. The internal circumference is 6 7/8". It should easily fit a wrist of less than 6.5". The bracelet is not stamped but acid tests for 14k. The safety chain is a slightly different color of gold. The bangle comes in its original presentation box.
